Founded by Major Bhavana Chrianjay (retired), Swakshatra Home for Girls stands for "Innately Strong and Self Powerful” as in Sanskrit. Major Bhavana started the charity in 2017 with a vision to ensure the holistic safety and empowerment of children and women especially those who have been victims of trafficking, abuse and neglect. She and her team were deeply moved by the plight of these women and children and wanted to create a safe space where these vulnerable individuals could heal, grow and reclaim their lives.
